Voices from the void

The voices of lived experience advocates have the greatest influence in reshaping public perception. Our advocacy support empowers survivors to reclaim their narratives, transforming pain into a catalyst for meaningful change.

By sharing their experiences, survivors shed light on personal pain and the unique barriers men face. Their stories inspire other survivors to seek help, breaking cycles of silence and isolation.

Support & Safety

We support male survivors of sexual violence in transforming their experiences into advocacy, creating safe, empowering spaces where their voices are valued. Through mentorship and skill-building workshops, we help survivors articulate their histories, develop confidence, and navigate the challenges of public advocacy.

Recognising the unique stigmas men face, we provide resources tailored to their needs, fostering resilience and self-empowerment. We connect survivors with advocacy networks, public forums, and research initiatives to ensure their stories influence ongoing change.

By combining their lived experiences with public and clinical advocacy, we work to dismantle harmful stereotypes, inspire healing, and promote a culture of understanding.

John’s Story…

John*, a survivor of sexual violence, contacted Boy Not There seeking support to write a victim impact statement of his experience.

After writing his story, John began sharing his insights in mediated survivor support groups, then progressed to addressing student audiences and healthcare professionals, where he became a lived-experience expert on the psychological impacts of male sexual trauma.

John collaborated on workshops for first responders, emphasising trauma-informed care for male survivors. His advocacy has since extended to policy discussions, where he contributed to shaping survivor-inclusive training programs for social workers and law enforcement.

Through his work, John has reached hundreds of survivors and professionals, challenging stereotypes and driving systemic change to better support male survivors of sexual violence.
